Programs

Neighbors In Need serves 350 families per week in food pantries throughout Lawrence and Methuen.  The Infant in Need Program provides baby formula and diapers for at-risk children.  The Adopt-A-Family Program provides holiday meals and gifts.  Neighbors In Need distributes clothing and household items donated by individuals, schools and local corporations.

Since 1983 Neighbors In Need has distributed over 4 million pounds of food to hungry  families in Greater Lawrence.

  • Food is distributed at eight Food Pantries strategically located throughout the neighborhoods of Lawrence and Methuen.  Last year Neighbors In Need distributed over 220,000 pounds of food to 15,000 families and 46,800 individuals, including 20,489 children under the age of 18.

  • The Infants In Need program provides formula, diapers and other baby products to over 500 mothers and caregivers of infants and toddlers annually.  In 2005, we distributed 22,000 diapers and 500 cans of formula.  Formula and diapers are available at 95 East Haverhill St., Monday through Friday, 8 am - 12 noon.

  • Through the Adopt-A-Family program at Thanksgiving and Christmas, donor families provided a complete holiday dinner with all the fixings to more than 640 families last year.

  • The Clothes Bin Program receives donations of clothing and distributes them to pantry guests, homeless shelters, nursing homes, social service providers and day care centers.  Donated clothing, furniture and infant needs valued at $60,000 were distributed last year.

With your help, Neighbors In Need is helping the people of Greater Lawrence every day - one family at a time.
